How much does artificial grass cost?

This is probably one of our most frequently asked questions. Artificial grass lawns start at $6.50 per square foot, and can go up to $14.00 per square foot. The turf installation cost varies, mostly due to how much preparation needs to be done to establish an adequate base to lay the turf down.

Some factors that determine costs are examining what the access to the area looks like? Is it clean land, with no obstacles, or do trees and boulders need to be removed first? Do you have an existing lawn in the area that needs to be removed? This would likely also require us to cap off your existing irrigation system before synthetic grass is laid down.

Drainage issues are also a consideration. For the best results, a gravel base with good drainage is laid down first, covered by smaller gravel and sand, before padding and underlayment are laid down. This step is extremely important, and sets us apart from other artificial grass installation companies. With careful site prep, we ensure that your artificial grass lawn will drain properly, won’t develop dips and soggy areas, and will be built to last. You can’t just lay turf down on dirt and expect good results. When the first rain comes in, and mud accumulates under the turf, you’re in for problems.

If you’re unsure about what is required for the site prep of your lawn renovation, call us today and one of our expert installers can visit you to provide you with a free estimate.

How much do backyard putting greens cost to install?

high school golf club custom putting greenLike we mentioned above, many factors could affect the cost of installing an artificial grass putting green. Generally speaking, quality artificial grass backyard putting greens start at $14.50 per square foot and can go up to $20.00 per square foot.

Additional considerations with a private putting green design include how many holes you want, whether you want to include sand bunkers, stacked sod bunkers, water features, etc. Also, would you like to include chipping areas in your design? Most people do, as it adds another level of skill-building and challenge to your backyard putting green. We can also customize your golf green with undulations, allowing you to practice your putting from many different areas with different ball reactions. Depending on your particular property, and what you want to focus on, there may be even more custom options available to you, including different fringe cuts, long putts, etc.

How do you install artificial grass? Can I do some of the artificial grass installations myself?

The proper technique for artificial grass installation involves a lot of variables. Our installers are thoroughly trained to get the best possible outcome of synthetic grass installations. You can help prepare the area by removing any obstacles, rocks, trees, etc. that you don’t want there. But the rest of the installation is better left to the pros.

When we come on site, our artificial grass installers will remove any existing grass or ground covering, and disconnect any sprinkler or irrigation system at its source to prevent damage to the base in the future. We’ll bring in several layers of gravel and sand to form a strong, consistent base which will serve as a surface for the synthetic turf. Our installation technique of layering gravel also ensures for proper drainage of the area after heavy rains, increasing the longevity of your artificial grass.

Once the proper base is set, our installers will carefully cut and painstakingly seam together the pieces for a smooth surface. We secure the edges using a proprietary system which reduces the chance of the grass coming up, even after heavy storms. Then we finish it off with patented sand to further hold the turf in place. Each step is carefully inspected before the next step, and our installers are highly trained on how to do the job efficiently and effectively.

While there are plenty of places that sell artificial grass for the DIY homeowner, there’s a lot more than the actual turf that goes into the proper installation of a long-lasting and beautiful artificial grass lawn. We highly recommend using a professional synthetic turf installation team like us at Celebrity Greens Phoenix. It will save you time and money in the long run by not having to replace a poorly installed lawn sooner than necessary.

Is artificial grass safe for kids and dogs?

pet friendly artificial grass

While it’s true that some imported artificial grasses may contain lead and other dangerous materials, emit questionable off-gasses, or pose unseen risks to your most precious members of your family, the artificial turf used by Celebrity Greens does not fall into that category. Our turf is manufactured right here in the United States and follows extremely rigorous safety requirements. The products used to manufacture our synthetic grass, including the fibers and the backing of those fibers, are made from materials approved by the United States FDA. Our turf is regularly inspected for quality and consistency, and you won’t find unknown elements within the components of our turf. The same can’t be said for other imported turf products. Quality standards in other countries just aren’t up to par with what you see here in the U.S. Furthermore, you can’t be guaranteed that turf manufacturers outside the U.S. are even being truthful of what is in their end product.

Our USA manufactured artificial grass meets all of the strict environmental and health benchmarks that are recommended to keep your kids and pets safe. It’s even allergen-free, so for many, it may even be healthier to use than real grass.

There’s a reason that imported turf tends to be cheaper than turf manufactured here in the USA. We don’t recommend homeowners take the chance with the health of their children or pets to save a few pennies by installing cheap imported turf.

Can dogs dig through artificial grass?

Our super durable pet turf is engineered specifically to hold up to dogs’ claws. Many people choose artificial grass for a dog run because it will hold up much better than any natural grass lawn will, and can stand up to almost any dog’s digging efforts.

Where is your artificial grass made or manufactured?

All of the artificial grass we use at Celebrity Greens is manufactured right here in the United States of America. Our turf is much higher quality than cheaper imported turf you’ll see on the market, and it holds up to our hot Arizona climate (which can quickly degrade inferior turf products). It also adheres to strict quality controls to ensure it will be safe and long-lasting for your family.

How long will my synthetic grass lawn last?

Our turf comes with a standard eight-year manufacturer’s warranty, but with our high-quality standards, it may very well last longer than that. Compare that to many of our competitors who use cheap imported turf in their installations. Lesser quality artificial grasses experience breakage of the blades of grass when exposed to the harsh Arizona sun, as well as failure and rips in the backing after just a few short years.

Does artificial grass need any maintenance?

Not much. All that you will really need to do is pick up any debris that falls on it, or pet waste, and thoroughly hose it off. It is very low maintenance and will always look like freshly mowed grass.

Is the synthetic turf you use environmentally friendly?

Absolutely. All the products used to manufacture our artificial grass are safe for the environment. Our turf doesn’t emit any off-gasses or harmful chemicals. It’s a highly stable product, which makes it very safe for the environment and your family while being extremely durable and long-lasting.

What’s more, our products are recyclable. We are committed to protecting the environment and helping our customers decrease the need for water in our desert environment.

When you replace a natural grass lawn with synthetic turf you use less water and eliminate the use of pesticides or other chemicals that can be unsafe for wildlife and even your kids and pets. Overall, artificial grass is good for the environment.

Does artificial grass actually look and feel like real grass?

This is not your grandma’s hard, coarse, fake, astroturf.  The modern engineering behind our artificial grass, both in the actual shape of the blades, as well as the ingredients used to manufacture it, creates a smooth, luscious surface you’ll love running your toes through.  You’ll be surprised at just how real it looks and feels, without those bothersome dry patches or muddy spots you so often get with real grass.

Does artificial grass drain easily or will it trap water?

Our artificial turf installation process ensures that the base formed allows for adequate drainage. The synthetic turf itself utilizes a unique backing which allows for water to easily flow through the turf and drainage base, resulting in reduced pooling when it rains.

Will it produce “grass stains”, will the color rub off on clothing or skin?

We can’t say this for all artificial grass, but rest assured the USA-manufactured artificial grass that we use will not rub off on you. It is a highly stable product, which undergoes strict quality control measures, to ensure that the color will not fade or rub off.

How hot does it get? Can you walk on it with bare feet in the summer?

Artificial grass is essentially a plastic product. And just like pretty much all surfaces, it can get hot in the Arizona summer heat. However, the shape of our individual blades has been engineered to provide some air cushion when you’re walking on it. This helps minimize heat transfer to your bare feet. Additionally, if you think you’ll be using it a lot during the summer, or if your kids or pets will, you can request a special heat-reducing infill that we can install with your artificial grass. This infill can help reduce the surface temperature of the artificial grass by 30-40 degrees.

Additionally, a quick spray of some cool water on your artificial grass will quickly and dramatically reduce the surface temperature, making it quite comfortable to walk on, even in the heat of the summer.

Can you install artificial grass by a pool?

private backyard artificial grass pool surround

Yes, we highly recommend installing artificial grass throughout your backyard, especially around your pool. Not only will it provide a beautiful landscape around a swimming pool but it will reduce the amount of debris getting into your pool. It will also reduce mud and other messy footprints around your backyard from wet swimmers walking over dirt or grassy areas.

Artificial grass drains fast and stays clean. The sand infill helps to make it a more slip-resistant surface than natural grass and therefore provides an extra layer of safety around your pool, and throughout your entire backyard.

How can do you avoid pet odor and clean up artificial grass after pet messes or other types of spills?

The easiest way to clean up your artificial grass lawn is to physically pick up any pet waste or other debris laying on the yard. Then use a hose to spray it down and clean off any pet messes or spills right after they happen.

For the most part, you will not notice any pet odors if you regularly hose down the areas they use.

When I have artificial turf installed, will I need to remove my existing lawn? What about my sprinkler system?

You will need to have your existing lawn torn out and your sprinklers capped.

How long does it take to install artificial grass?

The installation time depends on the size of your yard, what is there now, and what kind of preparation your yard needs before the installation. Generally speaking, most of our artificial grass installations can happen over 2-3 days.

Can weeds grow through the synthetic turf backing or on it?

The most common weed that grows is known as nutgrass. To prevent this from happening, we make sure it is properly sprayed once the old grass is removed. Once we have sprayed we can begin the installation.

Where can it be installed? on a slope?

Because it is so low maintenance, artificial grass is perfect for installations in difficult to maintain places. It can be installed in hard to reach spots, heavy slopes, and heavy traffic areas. The other great thing about artificial grass is that unlike real grass that requires reseeding seasonally, synthetic turf has virtually no downtime. Once the artificial grass is installed it’s ready to be used 24/7, 7 days a week. So if you have an area that gets heavy use year-round, artificial grass will be a perfect fit for your needs.

Do you offer financing?

We do not at this time offer financing, but we do accept most major credit cards. We require 50% down once a contract is signed. The other 50% Is due the day the installation is completed.
